Ordinance canvassing the returns of the 2015 General and Special
Municipal Elections held in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas on May 9,
2015
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls ha s heretofore called for
a General Election (“the election”) to be held in said City on May 9, 2015, to elect a
Councilor At Large, Councilor District 1, and Councilor District 2; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls also called for a special
election to be hel d in said City on the same date to consider the sale of surplus park
property; and
WHEREAS, election officers who held the election have duly made the returns
of the results thereof, and said returns have been duly delivered to the Canvassing
Authority; and
WHEREAS, it is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which
this ordinance was passed was open to the public, and public notice of the time, place
and purpose of this meeting was given, all as required by the Texas Government Code;
and
WHEREAS, after canvassing the official returns of the election, it was found to
be duly and legally held in all respects, and that _5,758_ voters voted in the election,
and that votes were cast as follows:
COUNCILOR AT LARGE:
Krystal James received _1,521 ____votes
Michael L. Smith received _3,704____votes
COUNCILOR DISTRICT 1:
Walter King received __521____votes
Stephen L. Santellana received _1,042____votes
COUNCILOR DISTRICT 2:
Donnie Melton received _190 _____votes
DeAndra M. Chenault received _310_____votes
Proposition: “Shall the City be authorized to sell , at fair market value, surplus
park property in Wood Memorial Park, said property being described as
containing 0.880 acre of land, more or less, out of the O.H.P. Davis Survey, A-65
and being out of a certain 6.00 acre tract of land conveyed to the City of Wichita
Falls, Texas as recorded in Volume 1262, Page 540, Wichita County deeds
records.

Against received _1,226____votes
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The election was in all respects legally held in accordance with the laws of the
State of Texas and the Charter and the Ordinances of the City of Wichit a Falls.
The City Council officially finds, determines and declares the results of the
election to be that:
Michael L. Smith________was duly and legally elected Councilor At Large;
Stephen L. Santellana ___was duly and legally elected Councilor Distr ict 1;
DeAndra M. Chenault____was duly and legally elected Councilor District 2.
The proposition regarding sale of surplus park property in Wood Memorial Park
has received a favorable majority vote in all respects and has carried.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 19th day of May, 2015.
