III. OLD BUSINESS
Ms. Mitchell asked Mrs. Kreidler if she would like to update the committee on the adoption expansion
at Animal Services. Mrs. Kreidler informed the committee that the expansion was still in the works and
that they were waiting on an agreement from the donor and that she was hoping to have it on the next
city council meeting. Mrs. Kreidler felt very confident that it would be at the first council meeting in
December.
There is an agreement with Secord and Lebow for the architectural services since they were the
architects for the Animal Services Center. Mrs. Kreidler also informed the committee that it' going to
be 18 new kennels that would be used for adoptions. Councillor Smith asked how many new staff that
they were predicting with the new expansion. Mrs. Kreidler replied that there would be three new
employees: a front desk clerk, an adoption coordinator and kennel attendant. Mrs. Herzog asked if the
adoption coordinator would be a full time employee. Mrs. Kreidler advised that the plan is to have the
adoption coordinator be full time. Mrs. Kreidler stated that right now Ms. Mitchell and Mrs. Springer
are handling the adoptions.
Mrs. Mitchell informed the committee that the adoptions were going well that they had done their
100"' adoption in October. Councillor Smith replied that he remembered that in the August meeting that
Animal Services had just completed their 51st adoption. Mrs. Mitchell replied that Animal Services
were up to their 115th adoption with four or five applications waiting for processing at that time. Mrs.
Kreidler replied that for the 100th adoption that there was a press release and the adoption fee was
waived, and that they received a goody basket.
