AN ORDINANCE DISCONTINUING CERTAIN TERRITORY AS A PART OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FATTR AND ELIMINATING THE SAME FROM THE CITY LIMITS OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, THE SAME BEING PROPERTY IN THE NELSON-STONE SUBDIVISION AND
ADJACENT THERETO, ALL OF WHICH LANDS ARE FULLY DESCRIBED IN THE EDDY OF THIS
ORDINANCE; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE TOR THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has heretofore taken within the
corporate limits by duly approved ordinance the duly hereinafter described
lands; and
WHEREAS, petitions have been duly signed by a majority of the qualified
voters residing in the hereinafter described property, and such petitions request
that such territory be discontinued as a part of the City of Wichita Falls; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen find that such territory is not suitable
and necessary for city purposes and that it is not suitable and necessary area
to be within the corporate limits of this city, and it is the desire of the
Board of Aldermen of the said City of Wichita Falls to discontinue such terri-
tory as a part of the corporate limits of said City, the same being the lands
described herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FAITS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The following described tract or parcels of land situated
in Wichita County, Texas, be and the same are hereby discontinued as part of the
territory of said City, the sane being more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at the southwest corner of tae Nelson-Stone Subdivision
of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas;
THENCE in a northwesterly direction along the west line of
said Nelson-Stone Subdivision to the northeast corner of Lot 6,
Block 5 of the Rivercrest Park Addition to the City of Wichita
Falls;
THENCE west along the north boundary lines of Lots 6 and 7
of Block 5 of the Rivercrest Park Addition to the south right of
way line of U. S. Highway 277;
-THENCE northeasterly along the said south right of way line
of Uo S. Highway 277, 3,570 feet more or less to the northwest
corner of the Texoma Broadcasting Company Tract;
THENCE south 1650 feet more or less to the north line of
Onaway Trail in the West Indian Heights Addition to the City of
Wichita Falls;
THENCE west along the north boundary line of the Onaway
Trail to the northwest corner of the said West Indian Heights
Addition;
THENCE south along the west boundary of the West Indian
Heights Addition 807.5 feet to the most westerly southwest corner
of said addition;
THENCE S 28° 041 W 446 feet;
THENCE S 64° 171 W 865 feet more or less along the south line
of the Nelson-Stone Addition to the place of beginning and containing
92.1 acres more or less.
SECTION 2. Any ordinance in conflict herewith is hereby expressly
repealed.
SECTION 3. In order to eliminate costs and trouble with reference
to taxes assessed against the property in the above described area and to
facilitate the work of the Tax Assessor and Collector of the City of Wichita
Falls, and in order to do equity between the parties, the Board of Aldermen
find that an emergency exists requiring that this ordinance become effective
at midnight December 31, 1953, and it is so ordered.
