AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CLASSIFICATION OF ALL
FIREMEN UDDER CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYED BY THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND
REPEALIiVG ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the following positions in the Fire De-
partment of the City of Wichita Falls are classified under Civil.
Service in compliance with Section 8 of Article I269m, Revised
Civil Statutes of Texas, as amended, and they are hereby set out
as follows:
Unclassified Recruit Fireman
Classification I Fireman Number of positions: 31
Classification II Driver Number of positions: 30
Classification III Lieutenant Number of Positions: 10
Classification IV Captain Number of Positions: 10
Classification V Drillmaster `Number of Positions: I
Classification VI Assistant Chief Number of Positions: 2
Positions at Large: Under Civil Service, to be filled by
appointment rather than promotion, the
same being:
Master Mechanic Number of Positions: I
Chief Operator Number of Positions: l
Operator Number of Positions: 4
SECTION 2. No other person employed by the City of Wichita
Falls may be classified as holding a position under Civil Service
with the Fire Department.
SECTION 3. All prior- o -�dinances inconsistent herewith are
hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. The fact that the City of Wichita Falls is
currently adopting a new budget requiring the above classifications
in its Civil Service, and in order to protect the public welfare,
the fact that the present classification ordinance is now obsolete
creates an emergency, and this ordinance shall become effective
