Ord 1748 2/27/1956ORDINANCE NUMBER 7�t AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, BY ANNEXING CERTAIN LANDS ADJACENT TO THE PRESENT TER2ITORIAL LINTS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, WICHITA COUNTY, TEXAS; ALL OF WHICH.ARE FULLY DE- SCRIBED IN THIS ORDINANCE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. (Kemp -Newby Addition) BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: ,SECTION 1, That the following described tract of land lo- catedin Wichl'ta County, Texas, be and the same is hereby or- dered to be annexed and 'included within the corporate limits of the City of Wichita Falls,' Texas, and the corporate limits be extended to include said tract of land in Wichita County, Texas, the same being more particularly described as follows: BEING Sevent -five (75). acres of land out of B1ock,Sixteen (16, Kemp 8 Newby Subdivision of Cherokee County School. Land, A -33, Wichita County, Texas, and being all of Blocks 1, 2,. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and the North half of Block 8 of J ..M, Blankenship's Sub - division which said Blankenship Subdivision is,.recorded in Volume One, Page 108 of the Wichita County Plat Records. Said 75-acre tract being that same land de- scribed in a deed dated March 6, 1954, from Gordon T. West to Emily T. Pinkman and recorded in Volume 625, Page 317 of the Wichita County Deed Records and being also described in'a deed dated February 10,1955, from Emily T. Pinkman to Solon R. Featherston, Paul Dowdy and Roy Broadway, which said deed is recorded in Vol. 651, Page 438 of said Deed Records; Said Seventy -five (75) acres being described by metes and bounds, as follows: BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of Block One of Blankenship Subdivision of the West one hundred and fifty acres ( 150) of Block Sixteen (16) , Kemp and Newby Subdivision of Cherokee County School Land, A -33, Wichita County, Texas; THENCE East 549 varas to the Northeast corner of said Block One; THENCE South 771 varas to a point in the East line of Block Eight (8) of Blankenship Subdivision; THENCE West 549 varas to a point in the West line of said Block 8; THENCE North 771 varas, to the place of beginning. SECTION 2, In conformity with Section 3a of the Amended Charter of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, this ordinance is, on the 13th day of February, A,.D. 1956, introduced, and the City Clerk is directed to publish said ordinance one time in a newspaper of general circulation, published in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and seven days thereafter this ordinance may be finally acted upon. SECTION 3. The fact that many people reside in the territory described in thisordinance who are unable to take,advantage of city conveniences, fire and police protection, sanitary and health measures, creates an emergency, and it is hereby declared that the foregoing ordinance is an emergency measure on the grounds of urgent public need for peace, 'health. and safety of property, and this ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon its passage and approval. This 'Ordinance having been introduced on the l3th day of February, A. D. 1956, and having been published in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, to-wit, the Wichita, Falls Record News one time; on the lk� day of February, A. Henders n Ci Clerk TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF WICHITA FALLS Gentlemen: It is understood by us that you contemplate annexing the �75 acre tract known as the North 75 .acres ofthe.North 100 acres of a 154 acre tract our of Block No. 16 of Cherokee County School Lands; being also described as Blocks 1 to 7 inclusive, and the NY2 of Block 8 of Blankenship Subdvision.of Kemp Newby Subdvision of the Cherokee County School lands, and being further described.for greater certainty as: Allof Blocks One (1), Two (2), Three (3), Four (4), Five (5), Six (6), Seven (7), and the North one -half (NY2) of Block Eight (8) of the J. M. Blankenship Subdvision of Block Sixteen (16) of the Kemp & Newby Subdvision of the Cherokee County School,Lands in Wichita County, Texas. We hereby agree that the City is in no way obligating itself to bear any expenses incurred in placing of utilities on this property.
