AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CLASSIFICATION OF ALL
FIREMEN UNDER CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYED BY THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS; DECLARING AN EMERCIENCY; .AND REPEALING ALL PRIOR OR-
DINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the following positions in the Fire Depart-
ment of the City of Wichita Falls are classified under Civil Service
in compliance with Section 8 of'Article 1269m, of the Revised Civil
Statutes of Texas, as amended, and they are hereby set out as follows:
Unclassified Recruit Firemen
Classification I Fireman Number of Positions: 58
Classification II Driver Number of Positions: 30
Classification III Lieutenant Number of Positions: r9
Classification IV Captain Number of Positions: 10
Classification V Drill Master. Number of Positions: 1
Classification VI Assistant Chief Number of Positions: 2
Positions at Large: Under Civil Service,but to be filled
w by appointment rather than promotion,
the same being:
Master Mechanic Number of Positions: I
Chief Operator Number of Positions: 1
Operator Number of Positions: 4-'
Mechanic -Alarm
Maintenance Number of Positions: 1
SECTION 2. No other person employed by the City of Wichita
Falls may be classified as holding a position under Civil Service with
the Fire Department of said City.
SECTION 3. All prior ordinances inconsistent herewith are here-
by repealed.
SECTION a. The fact that the City of Wichita Fails has just
adopted a new current budget requiring the above classifications in
its Civil Service, and in order to protect the ipublic safety and
welfare, the fact that the present classification ordinance is now
obsolete, creates an emergency, and it is therefore declared that
this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage.
