AN ORDINANCE GRANTING AUTHORITY TO THE TRAFFIC
ENGINEER OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TO CAUSE THE
ABATEMENT OF TRAFFIC HAZARDS IN THE FORM OF TREES,
SHRUBBERY, HEDGES, AND THE LIKE, WHICH INTERFERE WITH
THE VISION OF VEHICLE DRIVERS; PRESCRIBING THE METHOD
FOR REMOVING SUCH HAZARDS; PRESCRIBING THAT NOTICE BE
GIVEN TO THE ADJOINING PROPERTY OIVNERS; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Wherever the traffic engineer of the City.
of Wichita Mills s all find a tree, shrub, hedge or other natural
growth of any sort or description, located and growing within
the boundaries of any public street in the City of Wichita Falls,
which interferes with the vision of automobile drivers, or the
drivers of other type vehicles driving upon such streets,there-
fore constituting a traffic hazard, the traffic engineer of
such city is therefore authorized and directed to cause the
traffic hazard to be abated, by trimming or removing any such
obstruction.
SECTION 2. The traffic engineer is hereby instructed
to give notice to the owner of any abutting property and afford
such owner the opportunity to do the work of removing the afore-
said hazard to traffic, but shall not be compelled to await the
ownerls action in any case where he shall find that the public
safety requires the immediate abatement of such hazard.
SECTION 3. In all cases that do not require immediate

If you have not removed the same, as herein-
above described, within ten days, this work'wil.l be
done by the City of Wichita Falls, under the _authority
of the ordinance above cited, with no expense to you.

SECTION 4. In the event that any hazard is not re-
moved after such ten day notice to the adjoining property
owner, then and in that event the City Traffic Engineer is
authorized and directed to request the Parks and Recreation
Department of the City of Wichita Falls to furnish the men
and equipment to do whatever is necessary in the premises
to remove such hazard, the same to be done immediately.
SECTION 5. In the event that any interested person
is dissatisried with the action of the City Traffic Engineer
he may within the ten day period of notice hereinabove de-
scribed, file an appeal, with the City Traffic Commission
for a full and complete hearing by such Commission, and the
interested property owner may in his discretion appeal the
matter to the Board of Aldermen of the City.of Wichita
Falls, whose judgment thereon shall be final.
SECTION 6. For the direction of the City Traffic
Engineer, the mi�um height of twelve (12) foot clearance
for all hedges, shrubbery or tree limbs over any.street of
the City of Wichita Falls, is hereby determined to be the
minimum height for any over - hanging shrubbery or growth.
SECTION 7. The fact that there are numerous
traffic hazards that exist within the corporate limits of
the City of Wichita Falls at the present time that should
be removed, creates an emergency, and in order to protect
the public health and welfare, and provide for safe travel
on the streets in the City of Wichita Falls, it is declared
that an emergency exists and that it is necessary that this
ordinance be effective from and after the date of its passage,
