. ',N ORDINANCE REGULATING DOGS 'WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, BY Alvl-E' STD ING SECT ION 2 THEREOF;
PROVIDING FOR LICENSES AND REGISTRATION; AND AMENDING
SECTICTT 3 PROVIDING FOR VACCIP:ATION; AMENDING SECTION 5,
AND D_ECLAR ING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
That Ordinance No. 1784, which is an ordinance regu-
lating dogs within the city limits of the City of Wichita
Falls, Te;;as, is hereby amended so that Sections 2, 3 and
5 thereof shall hereafter read as follows:
1ES:CTION 2. Licenses and Registration Required.- All
doas kept, harbored, or main wined y t eir owners in the
City of 1,7i9chita Falls shall be licensed and registered
if over 2 months of age. Dog licenses shall be issued by
the Chief of Police upon payment of a license fee of One
Dollar (I'1.00) for each dog, male or female. The Chief
V" of Police may authorize any licensed veterinarian to be
his agent to collect the license tax. The owner shall
state at the time application is made for such license,
and upon printed forms provided for such purpose, his
name and address, and the name, breed, color and sex of
each dog owned or kept by him. The provision of this sec-
tion shall not be intended to apply to dogs whose owners
are non- residents temporarily within the City, nor to dogs
brought into the City for the purpose of participating in
any dog show. But in no event shall the Chief of Police
or his duly authorized agent, issue a license tag to any
owner of a dog unless and until such owner shall furnish
a vaccination certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian.
The license shall be in effect for one year from date of the
vaccination certificate.
"Section 3. Vaccination. - It shall be unlawful for
the owner of any dog to keen or maintain such dog unless
it shall have been vaccinated by a licensed veterinarian
i' with anti- rabies vaccine within one year preceding the
date on which such dog is i-.ept and maintained. Live
Flury strain chick embryo vaccine shall be used on all dogs
over 5 months of age. Puppies 2 to 5 months of age which
receive dead tissue vaccine must be re- vaccinated within
3 months or the dog license will be suspended.
"Section 5. That the provisions of this ordinance
shall not apply to dogs which are not over two months of
age nor to dogs which are being led upon the streets or
other public places in the City and which are secured by
means of a suitable collar and leash."
SECTION 2. In order to protect the public safety, it
is necessaryT11at dogs be regulated within the city
Limits of
the City of �Ifichita Falls, Te_,,as, which creates an emergency
and in order to protect the safety of this community, this
ordinance is enacted as an emergency measure and shall be
in full force and effect from and after its passage and
