AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0, 164.1, THE TRAFFIC CODE,
BY AMENDING ARTICLE XVII, SECTION 14.6, TO PROVIDE THAT WHEN SIGNS
ARE ERECTED GIVING NOTICE THEREOF NO PERSON SHALL OPERATE ANY
COMMERCIAL VEHICLE EXCEEDING 17,000 POUNDS GROSS WEIGHT ON ANY
STREET OR PART THEREOF DESCRIBED IN SCHEDULE VIII EXCEPT WHEN
SUCH VEHICLES ARE MAKING DELIVERIES OR PICKUPS AS PROVIDED HERE-
IN; BY AMENDING SCHEDULE VIA SECTION 178 TO ADD HAMPSTEAD LANE
FROM KEMP BOULEVARD TO HAMILTON BOULEVARD AND DECLARING AN EMER-
GENCY,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION I.
THAT Article XVII, Section 146 of Ordinance No. 1641 is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Commercial vehicles prohibited from using certain streets -
When signs are erected giving no ice tFereof, no person shall
operate any commercial vehicle exceeding 17;000 pounds gross weight
at any time upon any of the streets or parts of streets described
in Schedule VIII attached to and made a part of this ordinance, ex-
cept that such vehicles may be operated thereon for the purpose of
delivering or picking up materials or merchandise and then only by
entering such street at the intersection nearest the destination
of the vehicle and proceeding thereon no farther than the nearest
intersection thereafter."
SECTION II.
THAT Schedule VIII, Section 178 of Ordinance 1641 is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Commercial vehicles rohibited from using certain streets -
When signs are erected giving no ice ereo no person s a operate
a commercial vehicle except as provided under Section 146, upon any
of the following streets or parts of streets:
Kell Boulevard from Kemp to Holliday Road
Hampstead. Lane from Kemp Boulevard to Ham-
ilton Boulevard."
SECTION III.
THAT due to the fact that at the present time a number of
heavy commercial vehicles are daily traveling Ha:nr�stead Lane from
Kemp Boulevard to Hamilton Boulevard thereby causing the pavement
and curbing of this section of Hampstead Lane, which was not con-
structed to handle this type of traffic to crack and deteriorate
creating an urgent public need for the preservation of the peace,
health and safety of the property of the City o'L Wichita Falls, so
that an emergency is hereby declared, and upon final passage of
this ordinance the same shall take effect immediately, and it is so
ordained.
