Res Election canvass 4/8/1946RESOUJTION WHEREAS, at a regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls held at the regular meeting place in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Building in said City on the 8th day of April, A. D. 1946" at which a quorum was present, came on to be considered the returns of the city election held on April 2, 1.946, for the purpose of electing a mayor and three aldermen, and WHEREAS, after canvassing the returns of said election it was found to be duly and legally held in all respects, and there were cast at said election 6573 votes for the election of the mayor and three aldermen and that, For Mayor: W. B. Hamilton received 3701 votes Mack Taylor received 2864 " Guy Rogers received 1 Jas. A. Mays, Jr. received I t° Jas. A. Mays, III received 1 " A. B. Hall received 1 " John Gould received 1 " Alton Haynes received 1 " Burl Moze received 1 " Joseph Young received 1 " For Alderman Place No. 4: Melvin B. Evans received 3512 " W. Ralph Hyer received 2825 For Alderman Place No. 5: J. M. Baber received 6302 " Jack Patton received 1 " L. W. Calloway received 1 " W. T. Locke received 1 " R. L. Hale received 1 " Oswald Marren received 1 " W. M. Morrison received 1 " For Alderman Place No. 6: A. Jay Eastham, received 3176 " 0. G. Stephens received 3154 And it appearing that W. B. Hamilton received the greatest number of votes cast at said election for Mayor, that Melvin B. Evans received the great- est number of votes cast at said election for Alderman Place No. 4, that J. M. Baber received the greatest number of votes cast at said election for Alderman Place No. 5, and that A. Jay Eastham received the greatest number of votes cast at said election for Alderman Place No. 6. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERIEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: THAT, W. B. Hamilton was duly and legally elected Mayor of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and that Melvin B. Evans, J. M. Baber, and A. Jay Eastham were duly and legally elected Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, at said election and that said election was in all respects legally held in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and ordinances of said City.
