AN ORDINANCE NAMING SHEPPARD ACCESS ROAD, WHICH IS
A STREET WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, BEGINNING AT U S. HIGHWAY 287 AND EXTENDING
NORTH TO THE INTERSECTION OF U .S HIGHWAY 281 NEAR THE EN-
TRANCE TO WHERRY HOUSING PROJECT AND SOUTH OF SHEPPARD AIR.
FORCE BASE GATE, AND RUNNING GENERALLY PARALLEL TO THE RED
RIVER EXPRESSWAY, WHICH WAS FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS U S
HIGHWAY 277 , HEREBY NAMING THE SAME "SHEPPARD ACCESS ROAD" ,
A STREET WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS:
1 .
That the following highway be , and the same is hereby,
designated as a City street to be known as "SHEPPARD ACCESS ROAD" ,
the same having formerly been known as "U S Highway 277" and which
begins at U S Highway 287 and extends North to the intersection of
U S ..Highwa.y 281, near the entrance to Wherry Housing Project and ,
South of Sheppard Air Force Base Gate . .
2 .
The designation of this highway as a City street shall in
nowise affect any prior contracts with the State of Texas and State
Highway Department with reference to maintenance thereon .
3 .
The fact that said street has heretofore been signed as .
"Haynes Boulevard" and the fact that the same has never been legally
named or designated by the Board of Aldermen of this City, and the
further fact that the street is commonly' known as SHEPPARD ACCESS
ROAD , creates an emergency and this ordinance shall be, and is,
effective from and after the date of its passage .
