AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CLASSIFICATION tP' ALL PfIr.I EMEN UNDER
CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYED BY THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS; REPEALING ALL-
PRIOR ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS;
TEXAS :
SECTION 1. That the following positions in the Police
Department in the City of Wichita Falls , Texas , are classified under
Civil Service in compliance with Section 8 of Article 1269m of the
Revised Civil Service Statutes of the State of Texas and they are
hereby set out as, follows :
Classification I Policewoman Number of Positions: 4
Classification II Patrolman Number of Positions: 77
Classification III Detective-
Sergeant Number of Positions: 14.
Classification IV Lieutenant Number of Positions: 5
Classification V Captain Number of Positions: 2
Classification VI Position-at-Large
(To be filled by appointment rather than
promotion, the same being Identification
Technician)
Number of Positions: 1
SECTION 2. All female employees of the City of Wichita
Falls Police Department who have Civil Service status shall have the
classification of Policewoman and shall be ineligible to hold any
other classification with the Police Department in said city.
SECTION 3 . All prior ordinances or part thereof inconsis-
tent herewith are repealed.
SECTION 4.. The fact that the protection of the public
welfare, and the exercise of the police power of this city necessi-
tates the classifications herein set out creates an emergency, and
in order to properly exercise its police power and to care for such
emergency, it is hereby declared that this ordinance shall be effec-
tive from and after the date of passage thereof.
