AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATE FOR THE CITY TO TAKE OVER
ALL PROPERTIES AND ASSETS, OF EVERY KIND AND CHARACTER OF, TO
ASSUME ALL THE DEBTS, LIABILITIES .AND OBLIGATIONS OF, AND TO COM-
MENCE PERFORMANCE OF ALL THE FUNCTIONS AND SERVICES OF WICHITA
COUNTY WATER CONTROL AND IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO . 1, AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls
by Ordinance No. 1954 ,. passed the 10th day of July, 1961, effective
the 10th day of July, 1961, annexed all of the territory which con-
stitutes Wichita County Water Control and Improvement District
No. 1; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated
(Vernon' s, Supp. 1958) Article /182 c-1 Section 2, The Board of
Aldermen desires to designate the date the City shall take over
all properties and assets of, and shall assume all debts of and
abolish said water district.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF
THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Effective the 24th day of July, 1961, at twelve
o'clock midnight, the City of Wichita Falls , shall take over all
properties and assets of every kind and character of, and shall
assume all the debts and liabilities and obligations of Wichita
County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 then outstand-
ing, and shall commence the performance of all the functions and
services of such district, and at that time said District shall be
abolished.
SECTION 2. The immediate need to abolish Wichita County Water
Control and Improvement District No. 1 and to prevent the duplica-
tion of services and avoid double taxation on said territory, here-
tofore annexed, creates an emergency and in order to protect the
public peace, health, welfare and the safety of property this
ordinance shall take effect immediately and it is so ordained.
