A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF 1,000,000
GALLON STEEL ELEVATED MATER STORAGE TANK AND 60 FT. WASHWATER
STANDPIPE AND TARGET;,INDICATOR ON EXISTING 500,000 GALLON TANK
AND DIRECTING CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACT FOR SAME
EREAS, John P. Rte, Water Engineer of the City of Wichita Falls,
Texas, has heretofore prepared plans and specifications for the purchase
and construetian 'of a 1,000,000 gallon steel elevated water tank and a
317,000 gallon steel standpipe, or a 130,000 gallon steel elevated water
tank, and certain other improvements to the existing water system, which
plans and specifications were thereafter duly adopted and approved by the
Board of Aldermen, and bids were by said body authorised for such pur-
chase and construction, and due notice of such proposed bids was pub..
lished for the time and in the manner required by the Charter of the
City of Wichita Falls and the laws of the State of Texas, and said bids
were duly received and the same were on June 30, 1950, opened; and
EAS the bids received have been fully tabulated, canvassed
and considered, and the Board of Aldermen, after fully considering the
same is of the opinion that the bid of Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel
Company, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is the lowest and most advantageous
and should be accepted for said 1,000,000 gallon elevated storage tank,
together with 60 ft. washwater standpipe and target indicator on existing
500,000 gallon tank;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY.
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:
That the bid of Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Company, of Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, for the erection and construction of a 1,000,000 gallon
elevated storage tank for the sum of $129,930.00, and a 60 ft. wash-
mater standpipe for the sun of $12,480.00, and a target indicator.for
existing 500,000 gallon tank, in the sum of $310.00, aggregating for all
of said purposes the total sum. of $142,720.00, be and the same is hereby
accepted, and that a contract in the form and with the terms as set
forth in said plans and specifications be made and entered into in ao-
cordance with such plans and specifications and in accordance with the
Charter and Ordinances of said City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and the
laws of the State of Texas, and that the City Manager of said City be
and he is hereby authorized to execute said contract for and on behalf
of said City of Wichita Falls, Texas.
This resolution shall take effect and be in force and effect on
and after its passage.
