TELT. WHEREAS, at the 1947 session of the 50th LE.-)gislature
of the State of Texas there was passed House Bill Ifo. 34, being Article126911. of the Vernon's Annotated Civil Statutes of Texas, creating a
firemen's and policemen's Civil Service Law for cities of Ten (10,000)
Thousand or more population, according to the last procedin Federal
Census of saiC cities, •••lad
II-EEPEAS, Section 27A. of house Bill NO. 34 provides that the
provision of this act shall not i.,,pply• to .my city unless first chetermined
at en election, which shall be called -•ii,..thin Linoty (90) days from the
effective date of this act, which r,els September 6, 1947, to be held in
accordance vdth the State Law and the Citi Charter, at -which tiro the
adoption or rejection of this act shall be submitted at such election,
and
1.HENIE.AS, the provision of said bill ma..-::e it mandatory upon the
Board of .]eldermen of all cities with a population of more th .n Ten (10,000)
Thousand, according to the 1 st preceding Federal Census, to call an
election for the purpose of voting on the adoption or rejection of said
bill, and
WHEHEAS, the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls
desire to fully comply with the requirement of House Bill No. 34 in the
