Res 04 4/14/1947RESOLUTION No. 4 WHEREAS, at a regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls held at the regular meeting place in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Building in said City on the 14th day of April, A. D. 1947, at which a quorum was present, came on to be considered the returns of the city elec- tion held on April 1, 1947, for the purpose of electing three Aldermen, and WHEREAS, after canvassing the returns of said election, it was found to be a,. and legally held in all respects, and there were cast at said election 5095 votes for the election of three aldermen and that, For Alderman Place No. 1: C. A. Spragins received 4012 Votes Russell Jack Ballard received 1034 Votes L. E. Stone 1 Votes Roy Adkins 1 Votes 1 Votes Dewey Pegg 1 VotesC.C.Trimble C. E. Greenwood 1 Votes For Alderman Place No. 2: K. C. Spell received 2344 Votes Clint Broday received X149 Votes Mitchell Nacol received 17 Votes Votes Votes Votes For Alderman Place No. 3: E. J. Wininger received 2858 ; Votes Miller M. McDaniel received 2234 Votes Bob McFall 1 Votes E.O.Noore 1 Votes R.Flake 1 Votes And it appearing that C . A. Spragins received the greatest number of votes cast at said election for Alderman Place No. 1; that K. C. spell received the greatest number of votes cast at said election for Alderman Place No. 2; and that E. J. Wininger received the greatest number of votes cast at said election for Alderman Place No. 3. AND WHEREAS, after canvassing the returns of said referendum election on franchise to the Lone Star Gas Company, it was found to be duly and legally held in all respects, and there were cast at said election 5182 votes as follows: For the granting of a franchise 3360 Votes Against the granting of a franchise 1822 Votes It thus appearing that said franchise was approved. AND WHEREAS, after canvassing the returns of said referendum election on franchise to United Gas Corporation, it was found to de duly and legally held in all respects, and there were cast at said election 5262 votes as follows: For the granting of a franchise 3468 votes Against the granting of a franchise 1794 votes It thus appearing that said franchise was approved. 4 AND WHEREAS, after canvassing the returns of said referendum election on franchise to Texas Electric Service Company, it was found to be duly and legally held held in all respects, and there were cast at said election 5266 votes as follows: For the granting of a franchise 3525 votes Against the granting of a franchise 1741 votes It thus appearing that said franchise was approved. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD CF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: That C. A. L"pragins K. C. ''pell and E. J. Wininger were duly and legally elected Alderman of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, at said election and that said election was in all respects legally held in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and ordinance of said city. That the franchise to Lone Star Gas Company was duly and legally approved and said election was in all respects legally held in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and Ordinances of said city. That the franchise to United Gas Corporation was duly and legally approved and said election was in all respects legally held in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and Ordinances of said city. That the franchise to Texas Electric Service Company was duly and legally approved and said election was in all respects legally held in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and Ordinances of said city. City Clerk t 4 ' NOTICE OF ELECTION Notice is hereby given that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, acting on a sufficient petition presented by qualified voters of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter and Statutes of Texas, did on the 19th day of February, A. D. 1947, order an election to be on the 1st day of April, 1947, at which time the qualified voters of the City shall determine by a majority vote whether or not Ordinance No. 1415, theretofore passed by the Board of Aldermen and approved by the Mayor, granting a franchise to United Gas Corporation, and whether or not Ordinance No. 1419, theretofore passed by the said Board of Aldermen and approved by the Mayor, granting a franchise to the Lone Star Gas Company, shall be approved by a majority of said qualified voters, or shall be repealed by such vote. The ballot used at said election will briefly describe the franchise to be voted on and the terms thereof, and shall contain the words "For the Granting of a Franchise" and "Against the Granting of a Franchise". Said election will be held at the same boxes and will be conducted by the same election officials that the general election for the election of officers of said City is held. This notice of said election shall be published at least twenty 20) days successively prier to the holding of said election in the Wichita Falls Record News. Wirt— f Mayo r ATTEST:// City Clerk ti s NOTICE OF ELECTION Notice is hereby given that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, acting on a sufficient petition pre- sented by qualified voters of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter and Statutes of Texas, did on the 26th day of February, A.D. 1947, order an election to be held on the 1st day of April, 1947, at which time the qualified voters of the City shall determine by a majority vote whether or not Ordinance No. 1429, theretofore passed by the Board of Aldermen and approved by the Mayor, granting a franchise to Texas Electric Service Company shall be approved by a majority of said qualified voters, or shall be repealed by such vote. The ballot used at said election will briefly describe the franchise to be voted on and the terms thereof, and shall con- tain the words "For the Granting of a Franchise" and "Against the Granting of a Franchise". Said election will be held at the same boxes and will be conducted by the same election officials that the general election for the election of officers of said City is held. This notice of said election shall be published at least twenty (20) days successively prior to the holding of said election in the Wichita Falls Record News.
