AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO . 2019, WHICH PRO-
VIDED FOR CLASSIFICATION OF ALL FIREMEN UNDER CIVIL
SERVICE, BY INCREASING THE NUMBER OF LIEUTENANTS FROM
16 TO 18, AND DECREASING THE NUMBER OF CAPTAINS FROM
27 TO 9, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY,
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen has heretofore under-
taken a reorganization of the Fire Department of the City of
Wichita Falls, which was necessarily done in steps.
WHEREAS, the next step in the reorganization is the
following change in the number of lieutenants and captains.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS;
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 2019, which provided
for the classification of all firemen under Civil Service,
is hereby amended by changing the number of positions in
Classification III , Lieutenant, from 16 to 18, and by changing
the number of positions in Classification IV, Captain, from
27 to 9.
SECTION 2. The fact that the changes herein are
necessary to complete the reorganization of the Fire Depart-
ment in order to improve its efficiency, so that it can better
protect the peace, health and safety of property of the City,
creates an emergency, and it istherefore declared that this
ordinance shall become effective upon its passage.
