RESOLUTION NO. 4 D 17
WHEREAS, the State of Texas, acting by and through
its Highway Department, in cooperation with the United States of
America, proposes to widen and improve State Highway No. 281
from a point beginning at the south end of the Wherrey Housing
Project at Sheppard Air,Force Base, and ending at Lincoln Street,
in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the said State Highway Department
the City of Wichita Fells has requested Precinct One of Wich-
ita County, Texas, to assist in such highway improvement pro-
ject, the same being in Precinct One, Wichita County, Texas, by
furnishing funds for the building of curbs and gutters on a
portion thereof; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of Sheppard Air Force
Base to begin immediately the construction, re-construction and
improvement of such highway, aa.nd further facilitate Miliary and
Military Personnel traffic between the Base and Wichita Falls;
and,
WHEREAS it is the desire of the Board of Alder-
men to cooperate in such project to the fullest extent;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of
Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, that said City
furnish its facilities for the purpose of obtaining necessary
additional rights of may along such highway and take over the
obligation of drains and storm sewers on said highway if any
be needed, provided same does not change the present water
course in such area and said City of Wichita Falls cooperate
in every manner and method possible in completing said pro-
posed improvement program.
The fact that the City of Wichita Falls does
not have sufficient funds available for the purpose of addi-
tional rights of way, it is further resolved that said rights
of way be obtained, if possible, in consideration cif the street
improvements being made adjacent to the property involved
fronting on such highway.
