Ord 2098 7/13/1964 ORDINANCE NO. 2e7 V AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CLASSIFICATION OF ALL POLICEMEN UNDER CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYED BY THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS; REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls has here- . tofore contracted with Griffenhagen-Kroeger, Inc. , of San Francisco, Cali- fornia, to conduct a position classification and salary plan for all employees of the City of Wichita Falls; and, WHEREAS, said plan has now been completed and submitted to the Board of Aldermen together with a recommendation that this plan be adopted and that all employees be classified pursuant to this plan; and, WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls to change the title of all classifications in the Police Department so as to conform with said plan without changing the duties of said classifications; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the following positions in the Police Department of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, are classified under Civil Service in compliance with Section 8 of Article 1269m of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, as amended, and they are hereby set out as follows: CLASSIFICATION-TITLE NUMBER OF POSITIONS Policewoman 3 Police Officer 88 Police Sergeant 18 Police Lieutenant 5 Police Captain 2 Section 2. All female employees of the City of Wichita Falls Police Department who have Civil Service status shall have the classification of Policewoman and shall be ineligible to hold any other classification with the Police Department in said City. Section 3. No other person employed by the City of Wichita Falls may be classified as holding a position under Civil Service with the Police Department of said City. Section 4. All prior ordinances, or portions thereof, inconsistent herewith, are hereby repealed. Section 5. The fact that all positions in the Police Department of the City of Wichita Falls are being reclassified in order to improve its effi- ciency so that it can better protect and preserve the peace, health and safety of property of the City, creates an emergency, and it is therefore declared that this ordinance shall become effective immediately.
