AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAMES OF CERTAIN STREETS
WITHIN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES, OR PORTIONS THEREOF, IN CONFLICT HERE-
WITH; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Planning Board of the City of Wichita Falls
has recommended that the Board of Aldermen change the names of
certain streets within the City of Wichita Falls ; and,
WHEREAS, the ;oard of Aldermen of the City of Wichita
Falls believes that it is in the best interest of said City
that such name changes be made.
NOW, T.HEREFS.RE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The names of the following streets shall be
changed as shown, effective November 1, 1965.
ORIGINAL NAME NEW NAME
1. Pierce Street - from Tenth Street
to Seymour Highway (U.S . 82-277) Kemp Boulevard
2 . Galveston Street - from Austin
Street to East Scott Street Kell Boulevard
SECTION 2. All ordinances, or portions thereof, in con-
flict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. The fact that construction changes made to
these streets tend to make them extensions of thoroughfares,
which would cause confusion to drivers, creates an emergency,
and in order to protect the public health, welfare and safety,
this ordinance shall become effective immediately, and the
street name changes shall become effective on the date shown
above.
