WHEREAS, the State of Texas has heretofore provided by law
that Midwestern University shall become a state university on
September 1, 1961, provided all the properties now comprising Midwestern
University and Hardin Junior College are conveyed to the State of Texas
free of debt by August 1, 1961, and
WHEREAS, there is presently outstanding both revenue and
mortgage bonds against said property, and
WHEREAS, the transfer of Midwestern University to a state
university is in the best interest of the citizens of Wichita Falls and
the entire North Texas area, and
WHEREAS, the Trustees of Wichita Falls Junior College District
have called an election for March 1+, 1961, to determine whether the
voters of the Wichita Falls Junior College District shall authorize
the issuance of tax bonds to refund the outstanding indebtedness
against the properties of Hardin Junior College and Midwestern Univer-
sity, and
SAS, the authorization of said bonds is necessary in
order to both effect the transfer to the State of Texas, and to relieve
some tax burden on the citizens in this area.
NOWT, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OFTEECITYOFWICHITAFALLS, TEXAS;
THAT, the bond election of March Li., 1961, and the program
covered therein is endorsed b y oftheBoard Aldermen of the City ofWichitaFallsandallcitizensareurgedtosupportMidwesternUniversitybyvotingfortheissuanceofthesebonds.
