RESOLUTION NO. '� �Z,3 I
WHEREAS,, the population of the City of Wichita Falls
has increased by almost ffftly percent (50%) in the last ten
(10) years; and
WHEREAS, all forecasts and surveys indicate a contin-
ued rapid growth of the City in the future, the only limiting
factor being an inadequate supply of fresh water; and
IT-MEAS., this urgent need for fresh water is increas-
ing every year; and
MERE.AS, there is an abundant supply of water located
within fifty miles (50) of the City which is unsuitable for domes-
tic and industrial uses at this time; and
WH:REAS, the development of a method to convert this
water into a useable state for municipal purposes would be worth
many millions of dollars to the people of the Wichita Falls area;
a nd
`11HERFAS, the United States Department of Interior has
chosen the City of va ichi to Falls as one of the ten (10) possible
sites for a Saline Water Conversion 'Demons tratioil Plant in the
Southwest area; and
','MMEAS, the location of such a plant in the 1,Mchita
Falls area is greatly desired by the City of Wichita Falls to
insure the City's continued growth and welfare; and
YBl'.ILA,S, the City pledges its full co-- operation and
support in every way possible if the plant is located in the
`jichi to Falls. area.
NOVI THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldern;en
of the City of ichita Falls that the location of a Saline 1,7ater
