A RESOLUTION AUTHCRIZING AND DIRECTING THE DISPOSAL A1\01
SALE OF CERTAIN REAL ESTATE TO TYCE UNITED STATES OF
APB, ERICA AND DECLAR INCT AN T1'_1ERGE1 CY.
IME'REAS the City of !Yichita Falls, Texas is the owner of a
certain tract of land consisting of 54.2 acres of land, more or less,
which land is presently being used as the site for the Wichita Falls
Mlunicipa i Airport and more properly described as follows:
A tract or parcel of land located in Wichita County, Texas
more particularly described as follows to -wit:
Being out of the Lewis Wells Survey, ,Abstract 323, Wichita
County, Texas:
Beginning at a point 100 feet west of the west edge of the
paving of the North- South taxiway (old original North-South
runway) and 395 feet North of the center line of the East-
Vilest runlaay paving at Hell Field Airport; thence North
00 04t West 1517.5 feet parallel to the V}'est edge of said
taxiway to a point; thence V.rest 1687 feet to the past right
of way Line of the Wichita Falls- Burkburnett Highway;
thence South 00 041 Last 1317.5 feet along the East right
of way line of said highway to the south side of the
airport entrance road; thence East 980 feet along the
south side of said airport entrance road; thence South
00 041 East 200.0 .feet; thence Fast 687.0 feet to the place
of beginning, containing within these metes and bounds
54.2 acres of land, more or less;
and
1,1MEREAS the United States :Air Force has deemed that a military
necessity exists for the acquisition of said land and that zee simple
title thereto should be vested in the United States oz America; and
;IJJEREAS the United States of der ica has requested the transfer
of title to said property to it and has offered to pay to the City of
tichita Falls, Texas a consideration of one and No/100 Dollars (_"X1.00);
and
WHEREAS the 1�1}ayor and Board of :Aldermen of the City of Vfichi to
Falls, Texas, having duly considered the above needs of the Air Force
and the request for the transfer of title of said property, deem it
advisable, -pro-Der, and .for the best interests of the City of Wichita
Falls to concur in such deter,itination and accede to such request by
selling and,. conveying the said property for the said consideration;
Now, THEIR EFORE, BE IT CMMED AhD ' SOLVED by the Mayor and
Board of ,Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas duly assembled
in lawful and regular session in said City on this 11th day of :August,
1959, a quorum, of said Board of Aldermen and a majority of the me:abers
being present and voting "Yes44 or in the affirmative on a :Motion duly
made and seconded for such purpose, that the City of Wichita Falls,
Texas convey to the United States of America all its right, title and
interest in said land as here inbefore described for the sum of One and
IVo /100 Dollars ($1.00).
IT 1S HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVL'D AND ORDERED: That said motion Sae,
and is hereby adopted, and that the City of Vfichita Falls, Texas, is
hereby authorized to convey by an appropriate conveyance the herein-
before described lands in fee simple to the United States of America
and that the Mayor of said City sae, and is hereby authorized to make
and execute all instruments necessary for the consummation of said
transaction and execute deed or deeds conveying said property to the
United States of America, pursuant to both the express and implied
provisions of this Resolution, and pursuant to law.
That by reason of the fact that the United States Government is
in urgent Head of the fee simple title to said land, it is deemed
necessary that said conveyance be made i.�iithout delay. Therefore, for
the preservation of the public health, peace and safety an emergency
is hereby declared to exist whereby this Resolution shall be in full
force and effect from and after its adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this llth day of August A. D. 1959.
This miotion was duly passed and adopted by the Mayor and tine
Board of Aldermen of the City of €E;ichita Falls, Texas, the day and year
above written.
