ORDINANCE CREATING THE POSITION OF CITY MARSHAL,
PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT, DUTIES AND SALARY
C THE CITY MARSHAL, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Corporation Court of the City of Wichita
Falls needs a full time peace officer to serve warrants
and processes ; and,
WHEREAS, it would be a great deal more effective to
have the peace officer serving the Corporation Court' s
warrants and processes as an officer of the Corporation
Court, rather than a member of the Wichita Falls Police
Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The position of City Marshal is hereby
created.
SECTION 2 . The City Marshal shall be appointed by, and
may be removed by, the City Manager of the City of Wichita
Falls, and he shall have such qualifications as the City
Manager designates.
SECTION 3. The principal duties of the City Marshal
shall he the serving of the warrants and processes of the
Corporation Court.
SECTION 4. The City Marshal shall work under the
direction of the Corporation Court Clerk, and his salary
shall e budgeted in the Corporation Court budget under
the title of City Marshal or Warrant Officer.
SECTION 5. The City Manager may also appoint such
deputy City Marshals as he may from time to time find
necessary.
: . CTION 6. The present backlog of issued but unserved
arrest warrants creates an emergency, and this ordinance is
declared an emergency measure on the ground of urgent public
need for the preservation of the peace, health and safety of
property of the City, and this ordinance shall go into effect
immediately upon its passage.
