AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 15-127 OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS,
CHANGING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN CERTAIN CLASS-
IFICATIONS UNDER CIVIL SERVICE IN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 15-127 of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, be and the same is hereby
amended so that such Section shall read as follows :
"Section 15-127 . Civil service positions designated.
The following positions in the fire department are
classified under civil service in compliance with section 8 of
Article 1269m of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, as amended,
and they are hereby set out as follows :

Fire equipment operator 48
Communications supervisor 1
Fire lieutenant 18
Mechanic-alarm maintenance 1
Fire captain 9
Fire battalion chief 4
Assistant fire chief 1
No other person employed by the city may be classified
as holding a position under civil service with the fire depart-
ment. "
SECTION 2 . The fact that these changes are designed
to bring about a more streamlined, coordinated fire department
in order to improve its efficiency, so that it can better pro-
tect and preserve the peace, health and safety of property of
the city, creates an emergency, and it is therefore declared
that this ordinance shall become effective immediately.
