AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 29-42 OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY TRAFFIC ENGINEER TO PLACE
MARKERS, BUTTONS, OR SIGNS WITHIN OR ADJACENT
TO INTERSECTIONS INDICATING THE COURSE TO BE
TRAVELED BY VEHICLES AT SUCH INTERSECTIONS AND
REQUIRING OBEDIENCE THERETO, AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 29-42 of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Wichita Falls is hereby amended so that such
Section shall read as follows :
"Section 29-42 . Authority to place and obedience to
markers , buttons or signs .
(a) The City Traffic Engineer is authorized to
place markers , buttons, or signs within or ad-
jacent to intersections indicating the course
to be traveled by vehicles at such intersections
and such course to be traveled as so indicated
may conform to or be other than as prescribed by
law or ordinance.
(b) When authorized markers, buttons, or other
indications are placed within an intersection
indicating the course to be traveled by vehicles
thereat, no driver of a vehicle shall disobey the
directions of such indications. "
SECTION 2 . The fact that many people live within the
City of Wichita Falls and there is an urgent need for pro-
tection of its citizens and their property upon the City' s
roads and streets, this ordinance is declared an emergency
measure on the ground of urgent public need for the orderly
flow of traffic upon its roads and streets and a public need
for the preservation of the peace, health and safety of prop-
erty of the City, and said ordinance shall take effect immed-
iately upon its passage.
