Res 585 12/14/1964RESOLUTION NO. 585 WHEREAS, the Hirschi High School Football Team this year advanced to the semi-finals in Class 3-A of the Texas Interscholastic League football playoffs, a feat which was especially commendable in view of the fact that this was their first year to play in Class 3-A competition and only the third year in which they have fielded a football team; and, WHEREAS, although in most of their games the experts predicted that their opponents would win on account of greater weight and experience, these young men demonstrated that determination and team effort could produce victories ; and, WHEREAS, this football team was not only outstanding for its excellence in playing the game, but also set an example for all of us by their fine display of good sports- manship at all times; and, WHEREAS, the entire student body of Hirschi High School, as well as the members of the football team, have brought credit to our city by the meritorious way in which they supported their team and conducted themselves at the football games ; and, WHEREAS, the faculty, the coaches, and the team captains are all deserving of recognition for the part they played in leading the students of this school in this fine accomplish- ment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: The City of Wichita Falls, acting through its Board I. 2- of Aldermen, does hereby extend its commendation and con- gratulations to the Hirschi Huskies football team and to the student body and faculty of Hirschi High School, with special commendation to the coaching staff composed of Jess Stiles, W. D. "Dub" Largin, and Bob Page, and to the team captains, Don King, Ronnie Faulkner, Milton Hibler, and Abel Ramos . PASSED AND APPROVED THIS THE 14th DAY OF DECEMBER, 1964.
