A RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING THE
RESULTS OF A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS ON SEPTEMBER 28TH, 1967 ON
THE QUESTION OF ADOPTION OF A ONE PERCENT (1%)
LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX WITHIN SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, at a special meeting of the Board of Aldermen
of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, held in the Memorial
Auditorium building on the 28th day of September, 1967 , at
which time a quorum was present, came on to be considered
the returns of the special election which was held on the
28th day of September, 1967 , at which there were submitted
to the duly qualified resident electors of said City, for
their action thereupon, the following propositions :
FOR the adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales
and use tax within the City. "
AGAINST the adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales
and use tax within the City. "
WHEREAS, after canvassing the returns of said election,
it was found to be duly and legally held in all respects, and
there were cast at said election 7 4 votes,
of which number there were cast:
FOR adoption of a one percent (1%)
local sales and use tax within
the City. 92--r/ votes
AGAINST adoption of a one percent
1%) local sales and use tax
within the City. votes
Majority FOR adoption of a one
percent (1%) local sales and
use tax within the City. 4141-7 votes
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Said election was duly called and notice
thereof given in accordance with law; said election was in
all respects legally held in accordance with the laws of the
State of Texas and the Charter and Ordinances of the City of
Wichita Falls ; only duly qualified resident electors of the
City of Wichita Falls, Texas voted at said election; due re-
turns of said election have been made by the proper officers ;
said election resulted favorably to the proposition FOR the
adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales and use tax within
the City; that a majority of the qualified voters of Wichita
Falls, Texas, voting at said election, have voted in favor of
approving and adopting a one percent (1%) local sales and use
tax within said City.
SECTION 2 . The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita
Falls, Texas hereby declares that said one percent (1%) local
sales and use tax within said City has been properly and law-
fully adopted in accordance with the provisions of Article
1066c, Vernon' s Texas Civil Statutes (Acts 1967, 60th Legis-
lature, Regular Session, Chapter 36, Page 62) .
SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward
to the Comptroller of Public Accounts of the State of Texas a
certified copy of this Resolution, together with a map of said
City clearly showing the boundaries thereof as of this date.
