Ord 2455 10/1/1968 ORDINANCE NO. `7 -S--
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS,
CHANGING SOME OF THE DUTIES OF THE DIRECTORS
OF PUBLIC SAFETY, PUBLIC UTILITIES AND PLANN-
ING AND TRAFFIC.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Paragraph (a) of Section 2-3 of the Code
of Ordinances is hereby amended so that it shall hereafter
read as follows:
" (a) The following administrative departments are
hereby created and shall be responsible to the City Manager
unless otherwise provided herein, or by the Charter:
City Manager
Legal and City Clerk
Finance
Public Works
Public Health
Public Utilities
Parks and Recreation
Public Safety
Water Development
Planning and Traffic
General Services
General Administration"
SECTION 2 . Section 2-51 of the Code of Ordinances
is hereby amended so that it shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 2-51. Office Created; Scope, Appointment.
There is hereby created a Director of Public Safety
who shall have supervision of the police, fire, civil defense
and disaster relief, safety, airport and animal control, and
shall be under the direction and appointed by the City Manager. "
SECTION 3. Section 2-78 of the Code of Ordinances is
hereby amended so that it shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 2-78. Same-Duties generally.
The Director of Public Utilities shall have charge of
the water distribution system and the sanitary sewer system,
and all property and appliances incident thereto and connected
with the operation of the department, or any extension thereof.
He shall perform such other duties as have heretofore been
imposed upon him or may be hereafter imposed upon him by the
ordinances of the City. "

SECTION 4. Division 10 of Article II of Chapter 2
of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended so that it shall
hereafter read as follows:
"DIVISION 10. PLANNING AND TRAFFIC
Sec. 2-89. Department created; director.
There is hereby created a Department of Planning and
Traffic, which shall be under the supervision of the Director
of Planning and Traffic. Such director shall be appointed by
the City Manager, and shall be directed by and responsible to
such City Manager.
Sec. 2-90 . Duties generally.
The Director of Planning and Traffic shall be charged
with the supervision of the Department of Planning and Traffic.
He shall have supervision of the traffic engineering, planning,
parking meters and street lighting departments. He shall be
incharge of industrial relations matters for the City, and
shall be the City representative and ambassador to all present
and prospective industries. "
