Res 874 11/19/1968RESOLUTION NO. 874 WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation, acting through the Federal Highway Administrator, has promulgated a new Part 3 to Title 23 of the Federal Regulations, which relate to the determination of highway routes and locations, together with many requirements by which public hearings regarding such highway planning would be governed; and, WHEREAS, such regulations would prevent the Texas Highway Commission from exercising its judgment and authority concerning the location, design and construction of highways, and would there- by destroy the orderly process of highway planning within the State of Texas; and, WHEREAS, the Texas Highway Commission, by resolution dated November 1st, 1968, has opposed such proposed regulations by the United States Department of Transportation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: The City of Wichita Falls hereby expresses its whole hearted support of the Texas Highway Commission in its opposition to these proposed regulations by the United States Department of Transporta- tion, which would usurp the functions of the Texas Highway Commission relating to the determination of highway routes; copies of this resolution shall be forwarded to the Texas Highway Commission, Senator John Tower, Senator Ralph Yarborough and Congressman Graham Purcell.
