ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 29-91 OF THE TRAFFIC ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING MAXIMUM
SPEED LIMITS IN CERTAIN ZONES, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS,
TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 29-91 of the Traffic Ordinance of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls is hereby amended by adding paragraph
(AD) as follows:
(AD) Red River Expressway - US 82-287
Southbound and Eastbound traffic:
(1) 45 MPH From 16th Street to 0.20 miles South of 16th
Street. •
(2) 45 MPH Min. From 0.20 south of 16th Street easterly 1.37
60 MPH Max. miles to the Interchange of US 82, 281 and 287.
(3) 50 MPH Min. From 1.57 miles south and east of 16th Street
65 MPH Max. easterly 2.67 miles to east city limits.
Northbound and Westbound traffic:
(1) 50 MPH Min. From east city limits westerly 2.67 miles to
65 MPH Max. the Interchange of US 82, 281 and 287.
(2) 45 MPH Min. From 1.57 miles south and east of 16th Street
60 MPH Max. westerly 1.17 miles to 0.40 miles south of 16th
Street.
(3) 55 MPH From 0.40 miles south of 16th Street northerly
0.20 mile to 0.20 miles south of 16th Street.
(4) 40 MPH From 0.20 miles south of 16th Street northerly
to 16th Street.
SECTION 2. Paragraph (I) of Section 29-91 of the Traffic Ordinance
of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls is hereby amended so
that such section shall read as follows:
(I) Red River Expressway - US 277-281
Northbound traffic:
(1) 40 MPH From 8th Street to 1.50 miles north of 8th Street.
(2) 40 MPH Min. From 0.50 miles north of 8th Street to a point
55 MPH Max. 0.50 miles north of Interchange with US 287 and
Spur 325.
(3) 70 MPH(Day) From a point 0.50 miles north of Interchange
65 MPH(Night) with US 287 and Spur 325 to a point 0.40 miles
north of M.K.T. Railroad. (city limits)
Southbound traffic:
(1) 70 MPH(Day) From a point 0.40 miles north of M.K.T. Railroad
65 MPH(Night) (city limits) to a point 0.50 miles north of
Interchange with US 287 and Spur 325.
(2) 40 MPH Min. From 0.50 miles north of Interchange with US 287
55 MPH Max. and Spur 325 to 0.32 miles north of 8th Street.
(3) 40 MPH From 0.32 miles north of 8th Street to a point
0.12 miles north of 8th Street.

SECTION 3. The fact that many people live within the City of Wichita
Falls and there is an urgent need for protection of its citizens and their
property upon the City's roads and streets, this ordinance is declared an emergency
measure on the ground of urgent public need for the orderly flow of traffic upon
its roads and streets and a public need for the preservation of the peace, health
and safety of property of the City, and said ordinance shall take effect ihned-
iately upon its passage.
