Ord 2525 8/19/1969 ORDINANCE NO. 2525 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION IV OF ORDINANCE NO. 1631, AS AMENDED, INCREASING THE RATE OF FARE TO BE CHARGED FOR ONE PERSON, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. Section IV of Ordinance No. 1631, as amended, be and it is hereby amended so that it shall hereafter read as follows: "SECTION IV: RATES. Beginning August 20 , 1969, the following schedule of rates and fares shall become effective and shall supersede the schedule of rates and fares heretofore provided for, and the use of the taxi meter in each taxicab operating in the City of Wichita Falls is hereby made mandatory, and such rates or fares are as follows : (1) The rate of fare for one person shall be 45 cents for the first 1/4 mile or fraction thereof traveled by him, and 10 cents for each additional l /4 mile or fraction thereof traveled by him; and for each additional passenger transported on the same trip, the charge shall be 10 cents, provided all passengers are in the same party. (2) For each one minute of waiting time during each trip, the rate shall be 5 cents. (3) Trunks : 25 cents for each trunk carried. (4) Handbaggage shall be carried at no charge to the passenger. " SECTION 2. The fact that the present rates do not allow payment of adequate salaries to taxicab personnel, as a result of which it is impossible to keep competent employees, without whom the taxicab companies cannot provide adequate service, constitutes - 2 - an emergency, and this ordinance is declared an emergency measure and it shall become effective on August 20 , 1969.
