Res 1590 10/22/1974RESOLUTION NO. 5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: The provisions of Minute Order Numbers 69329, 69330, 69331 and 69332 passed by the Texas Highway Commission on October 1 , 1974, copies of which are attached hereto, and are made a part thereof, providing for signalization improve- ments at the intersections of Fairway Boulevard and Kell Boulevard, Kemp Boule- vard and Maplewood Avenue, Midwestern Parkway and Hampstead Lane, Kell Boulevard and Brook Avenue, Kell Boulevard and Harrison Street and Kell Boulevard at Taft Boulevard, the terms of which are acceptable to the City of Wichita Falls. It is hereby ordered that the City of Wichita Falls cooperate with the Texas High- way Department and fulfill its obligation so stipulated in said Minute Orders as being the responsibilities of the City. P„ge 1 ,,t WHEREAS, in WICHITA COUNTY, the City of Wichita Falls has requested assistance in Signalization at the intersections of Fairway Boulevard at Kell Boulevard and U. S. Highway 82-277 Interchange; and WHEREAS, Fairway Boulevard is included in the Urban System; and WHEREAS, It is the desire of the Texas Highway Department to assist the City of Wichita Falls in such work; NOW, THEREFORE, the State Highway.Engineer is directed to tender the following proposal to the City of Wichita Falls: Provided the City will: 1. Maintain and operate the installations upon completion in a manner satisfactory to the Department. 2. Adopt and enforce such ordinances and regulations as may be necessary for proper operation of the installations. Subject to the. availability of. Federal-aid Urban System funds and the eligibility of the proposed work for financing with said funds, the Texas Highway Department will: I. Prepare construction plans and specifications. 2. Provide for Installation'of Traffic Signals at an estimated cost. of $42,000 as authorized in the Texas Highway Department 1974 Urban System Program. Upon acceptance of the provisions of this Order by the appropriate officials of the City of Wichita Falls, IT IS ORDERED that Fairway Boulevard extending from Kell Boulevard, North to U. S. Highway 82-277, a distance of approximately 0.8 mile, be and is hereby designated as a METROPOLITAN HIGHWAY and the State Highway Engineer is directed to enter into agreement with the City covering the details of'the proposed improvements and to proceed with the engineering development of the project and with construction as author- ized herein in the most feasible and economical manner. Provide for the adjustment of utilities as may be required. 2. Maintain all of the work constructed as part of the project and operate the in- stallations in a manner satisfactory to the Department. 3. Adopt and enforce such ordinances and regulations as may be necessary for proper operation of the installations. Subject to the availability of Federal-aid Urban System funds and the eligibility of the proposed work for financing with said funds, the Texas Highway Department will: 1. Prepare construction plans and specifications. 2. Provide for Installation of Traffic Signals and Channelization at an estimated cost of $26,700 as authorized in the Texas Highway Department 1974 Urban System Program. Upon acceptance of the provisions of this Order by the appropriate officials of the City of Wichita Falls, IT IS ORDERED that Kemp Boulevard extending from Midwestern Parkway to Kell Boulevard, a distance of approximately 1.1 miles, be and is hereby designated as a METROPOLITAN HIGHWAY and the State Highway Engineer is directed to enter into agreement with the City covering the details of the proposed improvements and to proceed with the engineering development of the project and with construction as authorized herein in the most feasible and economical manner.
