Res 1584 9/24/1974RESOLUTION NO. / 4L RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS OF THE MUNI- CIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, ON SEPTEMBER 10th, 1974 ON THE BICENTENNIAL MEMORIAL CENTER AND COLLEC- TIVE BARGAINING FOR FIREFIGHTERS. WHEREAS, at the regular meeting of the Board of Alder- men of the City of Wichita Falls on September 24th, 1974, came on to be considered the returns of the municipal elec- tion held on September 10th, 1974 on an ordinance approp- riating $3, 000, 000 out of the Revenue Sharing Trust Fund for the construction of a Bicentennial Memorial Center, and on the adoption of the state law establishing collective bar- gaining for firefighters; and, WHEREAS, after canvassing the returns of said election, it was found to be duly and legally held in all respects, and that / "of voters voted in said election; and that, votes were cast for, and er/71X votes were cast against, an ordinance appropriating $3, 000, 000 from the Revenue Sharing Trust Fund for the construction of a Bicentennial Memorial Center; and, S9a_j votes were cast for the Auditorium site, and J votes were cast for the Indiana-Ohio Street site and write-in votes were cast; 2717/j votes were cast for, and ,fplpp votes were cast against, the adoption of the state law appli- cable to firefighters, which establishes collective bargaining when a majority of the affected employees favor representation by an employees' association. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: Said election was in all respects legally held in accor- dance with the laws of the State of Texas and the charter and ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls, that the proposed ordinance appropriating $3, 000, 000 out of the Revenue Sharing Trust Fund for the construction of a Bicentennial Memorial Center failed to carry at said election, and that the adoption of the state law establishing collective bargaining for fire- fighters was rejected at said election.
