ORDINANCE AMENDING PARAGRAPHS (1) THROUGH (8)
OF SECTION 17-19 OF CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS , INCREASING THE RATES
FOR COLLECTION OF GARBAGE AND REFUSE, AND DE-
CLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Paragraphs (1) through (8) of Section 17-19
of Code of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls are hereby amended
so that such paragraphs shall hereafter read as follows :
" (1) Single family unit with alley entrance $2.00
per month
(2) One family unit or single family unit,
without alley entrance, where it is
necessary to carry out refuse or garbage
for more than twenty (20) feet but less
than one hundred (100) feet from proper-
ty line $3.50
per month
(3) Single family unit where it is necessary
to carry out the refuse or garbage more
than one hundred (100) feet from the
property line $4. 50
per month
(4) Two (2) family units on one (1) meter $3. 50
per month
(5) Two (2) family units on separate meters,
per unit $2 .00
per month
(6) Apartment houses in one building up to
and including three units, per unit,
each $2 .00
per month
Four to twelve units, each $1.85
per month
Over twelve units, each $1.75
per month
(7) Housing developments where alley is avail-
able for service, per unit $2.00
per month
Any housing units where alleys are not
available, per unit $3. 50
per month

(8) Commercial and business establishments, regardless
of location shall be charged at a rate to be estab-
lished by the Sanitation Superintendent on the
basis of cost of service to be determined by the
container volume or time consumed, but no business ,
commercial concern, or establishment shall be less
than $5 .00 per month. Public, business, and com-
mercial institutions will receive sanitation contain-
er system service for the removal of trash and gar-
bage under the rates and rules hereinafter set forth,
as routes for such service are established by the
city. Under the sanitation container system ser-
vice, the City of Wichita Falls will furnish a con-
tainer or containers to be used in the collection
and removal of trash and garbage. The monthly
charges will be determined from the schedule below.
These charges are based on the container size and
number of collections per week.

Any institution which pays the rate set forth above
for 8 yard containers and has been furnished the
same, may upon request be furnished additional con-
tainers. The rate increase is to be determined by
the above schedule. When containers can serve sev-
eral adjacent business institutions, they will be re-
quired to use the same container and pay a pro-rata
part of the charge determined according to the appro-
priate quantity of space used. Additional pickups
will be made at $5.00 per container, or $10 .00 an
hour where there are no containers . "

SECTION 2 . The fact that the present garbage and refuse
collection rates are inadequate to cover the cost of providing the
service creates an emergency, and this ordinance is declared to be
an emergency measure, and it shall become effective October 1, 1969.
