AN ORDINANCE CHANCING THE NAMES OF ALL EXPRESSWAY SECTIONS AND CERTAIN
FRONTAGE ROAD SECTIONS WITHIN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, the Planning Board of the City of Wichita Falls,
Texas, has recommended that the Board of Aldermen change the names
of all expressway sections within the corporate limits of Wichita Falls,
and
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls
believes that it is in the best interest of said city that such name
changes should be made.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The name of the expressway section to Burkburnett,
extending from the City limits on the north to the City limits on the
southeast toward Henrietta, excluding Broad and Holliday Streets from
Eighth Street to Sixteenth Street, and such section further described
as Red River Valley Expressway, be changed to Central Freeway, and that
portion of Central Freeway from Sixteenth Street to the southeast City
limits shall be designated as Central Freeway East.
SECTION 2. The name of the expressway section to Iowa Park,
extending from the City limits on the west to Adrian Avenue on the east
be changed to Northwest Freeway.
SECTION 3. The name of the expressway section to Jacksboro,
extending from the City limits on the south to 30th Street extended on
the north be changed to South Freeway.
SECTION 4. The names of frontage roads adjacent to the freeway
sections shall be changed as follows:
Red River Road, located on the east side of the Central
Freeway, as described in Section 1, from Westcliff
Drive to Avalon Place be changed to Central Freeway.
Red River Road, located on the west side of the Central
Freeway, as described in Section 1, from Roanoke Drive
to Adrian Avenue be changed to Central Freeway.

Comanche Pathway, located on the south side of the
Northwest Freeway, as described in Section 2, from
Grandview East to Cimarron Trail be changed to North-
west Freeway.
Bryce Boulevard, located on the south side of Central
Freeway East as described in Section 1, extending from
Kell Boulevard to the Old Jacksboro Highway, be changed
to Central Freeway East.
Moore Boulevard, located on the north side of Central
Freeway East as described in Section 1, extending from
Kell Boulevard to the Old Jacksboro Highway, be changed
to Central Freeway East.
All frontage roads adjacent to the freeway sections described herein shall
take the name of the freeway section which it parallels.
SECTION 5. As additional land is annexed to the City of Wichita
Falls, extensions of the above-mentioned freeway sections shall at that time
assume the name of the sections being extended.
SECTION 6. All ordinances, or portions thereof, in conflict here-
with are hereby repealed.
