AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE SUBDIVISION REGULATIONS OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, ORDINANCE 2118, AND PROHIBITING THE NAMING
OF PRIVATE STREETS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas ,
deem it advisable and in the public interest to prohibit the naming of
private streets, in that street name duplication may occur.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That Paragraph B (15) of Section 9 of the Subdivision
Regulations, Ordinance No. 2118, be amended to read as follows:
" (15) Street Names. Names of new public streets shall not
duplicate or cause confusion with the name of existing
streets, unless the new public street is a continuation
of, or 'is in alignment with, an existing street, in
which case the name of the existing street shall be used.
The naming of private streets or drives is prohibited,
unless such names are approved by the Planning Board. "
SECTION 2. The fact that certain private street names may duplicate
and cause confusion with existing public street names creates an emergency
that requires this ordinance to be in force and effect immediately from and
after its passage.
