AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 15-127 OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES, ABOLISHING THE CLASSIFI-
CATION OF ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF, INCREASING
THE NUMBER OF FIREMEN TO FORTY-NINE, AND DE-
CREASING THE NUMBER OF FIRE CAPTAINS TO SEVEN.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 15-127 of the Code of Ordinances
is hereby amended so that it shall read as follows:
"Sec. 15-127 . Civil service positions designated.
The following positions in the fire department
are classified under civil service in compliance
with section 8 of Article 1269m of the Revised Civil
Statutes of Texas, as amended, and they are hereby
set out as follows:

Fire equipment operator 48
Communications supervisor 1
Fire lieutenant 18
Mechanic-alarm maintenance 1
Fire captain 7
Training officer 1
Fire battalion chief 3
No other person employed by the city may be
classified as holding a position under civil ser-
vice with the fire department."
SECTION 2 . As this Ordinance will improve the efficiency
and effectiveness of the Fire Department, it is declared to be an
emergency measure, and it shall become effective upon its passage.
