Ord 2598 7/7/1970 . • ORDINANCE NO. 2598 AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, BY ANNEXING CERTAIN LANDS ADJACENT TO THE TERRI- TORIAL LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, WHICH LANDS ARE DESCRIBED IN THIS ORDINANCE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the following tracts of land located in Wichita County, Texas, be and the same are hereby ordered to be annexed and to be included within the corporate limits of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and the corporate limits be extended so as to include said tracts of land in Wichita County, Texas, the same being more particularly described as follows: TRACT I BEGINNING at a point in the west right-of-way line of State Highway 240, said point being the northwest corner of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1615; THENCE westerly to a point lying 300 feet west of and measured perpendicular to the west right-of-way line of State Highway 240; THENCE southerly parallel to and 300 feet west of the west right-of-way line of State Highway 240 to a point 200 feet north of the north right-of-way line of Missle Road; THENCE westerly 200 feet north of, and parallel to the north right-of way of Missle Road to a point lying 200 feet measured perpendicular to and west of the west right-of-way line of the Central Freeway; THENCE southerly 200 feet west of and parallel to the west right- of-way line of Central Freeway to a point in the present city limits line which crosses the Central Freeway in the vicinity of Puckett Road; THENCE easterly along said city limits line to a point in the west line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1871; THENCE northerly along said line to a point being the northwest corner of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1871; THENCE easterly along the present city limits line to a point in the west right-of-way of State Highway 240; THENCE northerly along the west right-of-way of State Highway 240 to the place of beginning, said tract containing 307 acres more or less . r TRACT II BEGINNING at a point in the present city limits line, said point being the intersection of the north right-of-way line of U.S. Highway Spur 324 and the east property line of the M.K.& T. Railroad; THENCE southerly along the north right-of-way line of U.S. Highway Spur 324 to a point being the southeast corner of a tract of land annexed by Ordinance No. 2023; THENCE northerly along the east line of said tract to a point being the northeast corner of said tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2023; THENCE westerly along the north line of said tract to a point being the northwest corner of said tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2023; THENCE southerly following the present city limits line to a point in the north right-of-way line of U.S. Highway Spur 324; THENCE southerly along the present city limits line, being the curving right-of-way line of U.S. Highway Spur 324 and the Central Freeway to a point at the northeast corner of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2171; THENCE westerly along the present city limits line to a point lying 200 feet measured perpendicular to and west of the west right- of-way line of the Central Freeway; THENCE northerly 200 feet from and parallel to the west right- of-way line of Central Freeway to a point in the east property line of the M.K.& T. Railroad, said point being in the present city limits line; THENCE easterly following the present city limits line, being the east property line of the M.K.& T. Railroad to a point being the most northerly corner of a tract of land annexed by Ordinance No. 2025; THENCE around the tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2025, beginning in a southwesterly direction to a point in the east property line of the M.K.& T. Railroad, being the most easterly corner of the tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2025; THENCE easterly along the east property line of the M.K.& T. Railroad, being the present city limits to the place of beginning, said tract of land containing 427 acres more or less. I . URD1NANUL NU. Pugs .S TRACT III BEGINNING at a point in the north right-of-way line of the Northwest Freeway, said point being the northwest corner of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2028; THENCE easterly following the present city limits line, being the right-of-way line of the Northwest Freeway and Central Freeway to a point being the northwest corner of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2171; THENCE westerly to a point lying 200 feet measured perpendicular to and west of the west right-of-way of Central Freeway; THENCE southerly along a line 200 feet from and parallel to the right-of-way lines of Central Freeway and Northwest Freeway to a point lying 200 feet measured perpendicular to and west of the west right-of-way of City View Lane; THENCE southerly along a line 200 feet west of and parallel to the west right-of-way of City View Lane to a point in the present city limits line, being the north line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1851; THENCE easterly along the present city limits line to a point being the southwest corner of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1967; THENCE northerly along the present city limits to a corner of said tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1967; THENCE easterly along the present city limits to a point being a corner of said tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1967; THENCE northerly along the present city limits to the place of beginning, said tract of land containing 85 acres more or less. ORDINANCE NO. 2598 Page 4 TRACT IV BEGINNING at a point, being the intersection of the south right-of-way of the Old Iowa Park Highway and the west line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1858; THENCE southerly 750 feet from the south right-of-way of the Old Iowa Park Highway measured at right angles thereto a point in the present city limits line; THENCE westerly along a line 750 feet south of and parallel to the south right-of-way line of the Old Iowa Park Highway to a point in the extended east right-of-way line of City View Drive; THENCE northerly along the extended east right-of-way line of City View Drive to a point in the south right-of-way line of the Old Iowa Park Highway; • THENCE easterly along the south right-of-way of the Old Iowa Park HLghway to the place of beginning, said tract of land containing 57 acres, more or less. • ORDINANCE NO. 2598 Page 5 TRACT V BEGINNING at a point 200' north of the north right-of-way line of FM 369 measured at right angles thereto, said point being in the west line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2169; THENCE westerly parallel to and 200' from the north right-of-way • line of FM 369 to a point 200' west of the extension of the west • right-of-way line of a county'r'6ad known as Gregg Road measured at right angles thereto; THENCE southerly parallel to and 200' from the west right-of-way line of said Gregg Road to a point 200' south of an extension of the south right-of-way line of the county road adjacent to the south line of Block 1, Wichita Falls School District complex measured at right angles thereto; THENCE easterly parallel to and 200' from said south right-of-way line, and said line extended to a point in the west boundary of a tract annexed by Ordinance no. 2205; THENCE northwesterly along the west line of said tract to its intersection with an east-west line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2033; 1 1 THENCE westerly to the most northerly southwest corner of said tract; • THENCE northerly along the west boundary of said tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2033 to the south line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No 1852; • THENCE westerly along the south line of the tract annexed by • Ordinance No. 1852 to the southwest corner of said tract; THENCE northerly along the west boundary of the tract annexed by Ordinance 1852 to a point in the south line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2169; THENCE westerly along the south line of said tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2169 to. the southwest corner of said tract; THENCE northerly along the west boundary of said tract to the place of beginning and containing 288 acres, more or less. • • • • • • • • ORDINANCE NO. 2598 Page 6 TRACT VI BEGINNING at a point in the present city limits line, said point being at the intersection of the south line of Block 1, Kemp & Newby Subdivision of the Cherokee County School Lands and the west right-of- way line of State Highway 79; THENCE easterly to a point which is 200 feet east of the east right- of-way line of State Highway 79. measured at right angles thereto; THENCE northeasterly parallel to and 200 feet from the east right- of-way line of State Highway 79 to the present city limits line; THENCE following the present city limits line along the following courses: West along the south line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1866 to the southwest corner of said tract; North to the southeast corner of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1972; West along the south line of said tract to its southwest corner; South along the east line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1897 to the north right-of-way line of State Highway 79; Southwesterly along the north right-of-way line of State Highway 79 to the place of beginning and containing 62 acres, more or less. • ORDINANCE NO. 2598 Page 7 TRACT VII BEGINNING at the extreme southeast corner of a tract annexed to the City of Wichita Falls by Ordinance No. 1891; THENCE S 0 18'E 3,500 feet, more or less, to a point which is 200 feet south of the south right-of-way line of a county road known as Rathgeber Road; THENCE westerly parallel to and 200 feet from the south right-of-way line of Rathgeber Road to the east right-of-way line of the U.S. Highway 281 Expressway, said point being the present city limits line; THENCE northeasterly along the east right-of-way line of said U.S. 281 Expressway, being the present city limits line, to its intersection with the southerly projection of the most easterly west line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1891; THENCE northerly along the present city limits line to the southwest corner of said tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1891; THENCE easterly along the south line of said tract, being the present • city limits line, to the place of beginning and containing 204 acres, more or less. ORDINANCE NO. 2598 Page 8 TRACT VIII BEGINNING at the southeast corner of a tract of land annexed by Ordinance No. 1820, further described as Tract II in Ordinance No. 1820; THENCE southerly to a point 200 feet south of the projected south right-of-way line of a county road known as Quincy Road; THENCE easterly parallel to and 200 feet south of the south property line of Quincy Road to a point which is in the west right-of-way line of Hammon Road; THENCE northerly along the west right-of-way line of Hammon Road to a point in the south right-of-way line of U.S. Expressway 287, said line being the present city limits line; THENCE westerly along the south line of the right-of-way of U.S. Expressway 287, to a point in the east line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1820; THENCE southerly along the east line of said tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1820 to the place of beginning and containing 96 acres more or less. • ORDINANCE NO. 2598 Page. 9 • TRACT IX BEGINNING at a point 200' east of the east right-of-way line of- U.S. Expressway 281 measured at right angles thereto, and being in the north boundary of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1891; THENCE northeasterly parallel to and 200' from the east right-of-way line of said U.S. 281 Expressway to a point in the west boundary of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1748, said point being in the existing city limits line; THENCE following the existing city limits line along the following courses; North to the south right-of-way line of U.S. Expressway 281; Southwesterly along the east right-of-way line of the said U.S. 281 Expressway to the north line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1891; THENCE easterly along the north line of said tract to the place of beginning and containing 40 acres more or less. • ORDINANCE NO. 2598 Page 10 TRACT X BEGINNING at the most northerly northwest corner of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 2331; THENCE northerly following the east right-of-way line of State 79 Expressway to the north right-of-way of the M.K.& T. Railroad; THENCE northwesterly along said north right-of-way to a point in the southeast corner of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1864; THENCE following the city limits line along the following courses: Northwesterly along the north right-of-way line of the M.K.& T. Railroad 4850 feet more or less to the prolongation ' of the east line of Block 1, Sunnyside Heights Addition; South along the east lines of tracts annexed by Ordinances No. 1598 and 1639 to the north line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1820; East to the northeast corner of said tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1820; South to a point which is 200 feet north of the center line of U.S. Expressway 287; Easterly parallel to the center line of U.S. 287 Expressway as described in said Ordinance 2331 to the Expressway East Industrial District; Northeasterly along the courses described in said Ordinance No. 2331 to the place of beginning and containing 366 acres more or less. ORDINANCE NO. 2598 Page 11 TRACT XI BEGINNING at the most southerly southeast corner of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1864, being in the north right-of-way line of the M.K.& T. Railroad; THENCE southeasterly along the north right-of-way line of said railroad to a point in the east right-of-way line of State 79 Expressway; THENCE northerly along the east right-of-way line of said expressway to a point in the north right-of-way line of the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad; THENCE southeasterly along the north right-of-way line of the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad to a point 200' east of the east right-of-way line of the State 79 Expressway measured at right angles thereto; THENCE northerly and northeasterly parallel to and 200 feet from said east right-of-way line of State 79 Expressway to a point which is 200 feet east of the point of intersection of the south right- of-way line of State Highway 79 and the north right-of-way line of Hampton Road; THENCE northwesterly at right angles to the center line of State Highway 79 to a point 200 feet north of the north right-of-way line of said State Highway 79 measured at right angles thereto; THENCE southwesterly parallel to and 200 feet north of said State Highway 79 to the east line of a tract annexed by Ordinance No. 1869; THENCE southerly along the east lines of tracts annexed by Ordinances 1869 and 1864 to the place of beginning and containing 88 acres more or less. t t •� ORDINANCE NO. 2598 Page 12 SECTION 2. In conformity with Section 6 of Article 970a of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, before these annexation proceedings were instituted, the Board of Aldermen called a public hearing on June 2, 1970, to provide an opportunity for all interested persons to be heard; notice of such hearing was published once in the Wichita Falls Record News not more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten (10) days prior to the public hearing. Such public hearing was held on June 2, 1970, which was not more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten (10) days prior to the institution of these annexa- tion proceedings . SECTION 3. In conformity with Section 3-A of the amended Charter of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, this ordinance is on the 22nd day of June 1970, introduced and the City Clerk is directed to publish said ordinance one (1) time in a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and seven (7) days thereafter this ordinance may be finally acted upon. This ordinance having been introduced on the 22nd day of June, 1970, and having been published in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, to-wit, the Wichita Falls Record News, one (1) time, on the G ' (clay of June, 1970, and seven (7) days after such publication having elapsed, this ordinance is finally passed and approved this the ; 0415day of July, 1970.
