Res 1771 2/17/19761 RESOLUTION NO. `77/ RESOLUTION APPROVING JOINT ELECTION PROCEDURES WITH WICHITA FALLS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR APRIL 3 , 1976 ELECTION. WHEREAS , the Election Code of the State of Texas has been amended to require that the elections of all political subdivi- sions held in the Spring be conducted on the first Saturday in April, and provided further that joint elections are authorized between political subdivisions that can be served by common polling places; and, WHEREAS, it has been determined that a joint election procedure between the City of Wichita Falls and the Wichita Falls Independent School District is feasible, and would result in added convenience to the voters and a cost savings to both the City of Wichita Falls and to the Wichita Falls Independent School District. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS , TEXAS, THAT: The April 3rd, 1976 election shall be jointly conducted with the Wichita Falls Independent School District under the following accords: a. There shall be twenty-two (22) common polling places; b. There shall be a common election judge in each polling place supervising at least three (3) School District election clerks and three (3) City election clerks; c. There shall be separate ballots and separate ballot boxes; poll lists, tally lists, return forms and other records for the election shall be separate; d. At least one election clerk shall be bilingual to serve as interpreter at those polling places traditionally having significant Mexican-American votes, and a bilingual interpreter shall be made available on a standby basis at all other polling r places; e. Costs of personnel in conducting the election shall be shared equally, and costs of election materials shall be separately incurred and paid by each respective political entity.
