AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 17 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS TO PRO-
VIDE FOR MANDATORY RESIDENTIAL SANITATION SERVICE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Chapter 17 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Wichita Falls is hereby amended by adding Section 17-2 . 1,
which shall read as follows:
"Sec. 17-2 . 1. City service mandatory for residences .
The owner, occupant or lessee of every residence
within the City is required to place all garbage and refuse
in receptacles required by this chapter, and the same shall
be collected by the City Sanitation Department, for which
service the said owner, occupant or lessee shall be billed
at the rates hereinafter set out, as long as such residence
is occupied or city water service is connected intact. The
Sanitation Superintendent may waive this requirement in any
case in which the economic and physical conditions justify
such waiver."
SECTION 2 . The fact that City sanitation service is not
being utilized in certain residential areas of the city creates an
emergency, and this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure,
and it shall become effective on October 1, 1970.
