Ord 2674 10/7/1971 ORDINANCE NO. 2674 AN ORDINANCE LEVYING, ASSESSING AND FIXING THE TAX RATE FOR THE USE AND SUPPORT OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS , TEXAS, AND PROVIDING FOR THE INTEREST AND SINKING FUND FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1971-1972 AND APPORTIONING EACH LEVY FOR THE SPECIFIC PURPOSE AND PROVIDING FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF ALL ANNUAL OCCUPATION TAXES PROVIDED BY LAW, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS : SECTION 1. That there be assessed, levied and collected on all taxable property in the City of Wichita Falls, for the year 1971 and following, to-wit: $ .37 on each $100 .00 assessed valuation of all taxable property in the City for the purpose of paying the general govern- mental operating expenses of the City and for general improvements of said City and its property. $ .28 on each $100.00 assessed valuation of all taxable property in the City for the purpose of laying out, opening, con- structing, repairing and improving the roads, bridges and streets within the limits of said City. $ .20 on each $100.00 assessed valuation of all taxable property in the City for the purpose of maintaining, improving and beautifying public parks and cemeteries and maintaining and improv- ing public playgrounds. $ .05 on each $100 .00 assessed valuation of all taxable property for the purpose of establishing, providing, maintaining and operating within said City a public library or libraries. $ .95 on each $100.00 assessed valuation of all taxable property for the purpose of paying interest and principal for the redemption of bonds legally issued by said City. RECAPITULATION OF RATE $ .90 for General Fund $ .95 for Interest and Sinking Fund Total levy for 1971 - $1.85 for $100.00 assessed valuation of all taxable property in the City. SECTION 2 . There is also levied an occupation tax on every person, firm or corporation pursuing any of the occupations named in the charter, ordinances and the general laws of Texas as being subject to such a tax by cities, which shall be paid in advance; said occupation tax shall be one-half (1/2) of the state tax for similar occupations. , -2- SECTION 3. The immediate need to continue the normal operations of the business of the City creates an emergency and in order to protect the public health, welfare and to preserve the peace, this ordinance shall take effect immediately, and it is so ordained.
