AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF TWENTY-EIGHTH
STREET AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH TRAVIS STREET AND OLD JACKSBORO
HIGHWAY AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas
deems it advisable and in the public interest to close a portion of Twenty-
eighth Street herein described.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That portion of Twenty-eighth Street which is described
as follows:
A triangular portion of 28th Street right-of-way located in
Block 10 of the J. A. Scott Survey Number 10, Abstract 302 and
lying north of and adjacent to Lot 1, Block 9, Holliday Gardens
Addition to the City of Wichita Falls and is described by metes
and bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at the northeast corner of Lot 1, Block 9, of the
Holliday Gardens Addition, which is filed in Book 5, Page 508 in
the plat records of Wichita County, Texas;
THENCE west 106.65 ft. along the north line of said Lot 1,
Block 9, Holliday Gardens Addition to a point in the southeast
right-of-way line of the Old Jacksboro Highway, Loop 473;
THENCE N54° 15'E 86.45 ft. along said right-of-way line;
THENCE S35° 51'E 62.30 ft. to the point of beginning and
containing 0.061 acres, more or less.
be and the same is hereby closed and abandoned.
SECTION 2. That the presence of the excess right-of-way at the
intersection of Twenty-eighth Street, Travis Street, and the Old Jacksboro
Highway constitutes a traffic and safety hazard, requiring that this ordinance
be passed as an emergency measure, this is passed as an emergency measure
and shall be in full force and effect immediately from and after its passage.
