Ord 2699 3/21/1972 ORDINANCE NO. �W 9‘f. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 29-44 OF THE TRAFFIC ORDINANCE OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING LIMITATIONS ON TURNING AROUND ON CERTAIN STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS THAT; SECTION 1. Section 29-44 of the traffic ordinance of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls is hereby amended so that such paragraph shall read as follows: "SECTION 29-44. The driver of any vehicle shall not turn such vehicle so as to proceed in the opposite direction upon any undivided street in a business district, at any intersection controlled by a traffic- control signal, except where it is affirmatively signed as authorized by the Traffic Engineer, or in the middle of any block other than at an official median opening, and shall not so turn a vehicle upon any other street unless such movement can be made in safety without interfering with other traffic." SECTION 2. The fact that many people live within the City of Wichita Falls and that there is an urgent need for protection of its citizens and their property upon the City's roads and streets, this ordinance is declared an emergency measure on the ground of urgent public need for the orderly flow of traffic upon its roads and streets and a public need for the preservation of the peace, health and safety of property of the City. This ordinance shall take effect immedately upon its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS the 21st day of March, 1972.
