AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES TO PROVIDE FOR A FEE FOR COPIES OF
POLICE COMPLAINT REPORTS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Chapter 24 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Wichita Falls is hereby amended by adding a new Section 24-22,
which shall read as follows:
"Section 24-22 . Authority to furnish copies of police
complaint reports.
(a) The chief of police is authorized to furnish a copy
of the police complaint report made by the investigating
officers and/or records personnel to the following persons:
To any party filing a police complaint report, either as an
owner, visitor or as a person whose property has been damaged
or stolen as a result of a criminal act, or, when authorized
in writing by any such party involved, to a representative -of
the insurance carrier for the parj so involved or to the attor-
ney for such party involved or their insurance carrier.
(b) There shall be a charge of $2 .00 per copy of each
copy of the police complaint report made. Such charge is to
be paid in cash to the chief of police, or his representative,
and shall be deposited in the general fund of the City.
The authorization set out in this section shall apply
only to the report made by the investigatingofficers and/or
records personnel concerning a police complaint report. It
shall not include any written statement obtained from any
person, and shall not include any officer' s report made by any
investigating officer. "
