ORDINANCE NO. 7J/
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES, WHICH PROVIDE FOR FEES FOR DOG PERMITS
AND FOR IMPOUNDING DOGS AND OTHER SMALL ANIMALS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Subsection (a) of Section 5-55 of the Code of
Ordinances is hereby amended so that it shall read as follows:
" (a) All dogs five months of age or older kept, harbored
or maintained by their owners in the city shall have a permit.
Dog permits shall be issued by the Director of the Department
of Public Safety upon payment of a permit fee of $2.00 for
each dog, male or female. The Director of the Department of
Public Safety may authorize any licensed veterinarian to be
his agent to collect the permit fee. The owner shall state at
the time application is made for such permit and upon printed
forms provided for such purpose, his name and address, and the
name, breed, color and sex of each dog owned or kept by him.
The provisions of this section shall not be intended to apply
to dogs whose owners are non-residents temporary within the
city, nor to dogs brought into the city for the purpose of
participating in any dog show, but in no event shall the Director
of Public Safety or his duly authorized agents issue a permit tag
to any owner of a dog unless and until such owner shall furnish

the rabies vaccination certificate issued by a licensed veterin-
arian. The permit shall be in effect for the life of the dog.
The dog owner may, in lieu of obtaining a tag, have the permit
number tatooed upon the right ear of his dog. Upon change of
ownership of a dog which has a permit it shall be the responsi-
bility of the permit holder to have such permit changed to the
new owner of said dog."

SECTION 2 . Subsection (a) of Section 5-66 of the Code of
Ordinances is hereby amended so that it shall read as follows:
" (a) The owner of any dog impounded in accordance with
this article shall have the right to redeem the same upon pay-
ment to the City Accounting Department a $5.00 impounding fee
and the sum of $1.00 for each day held in the City Animal
Control Center, for each dog so redeemed. In a case in which
the same owner' s dog or dogs are impounded for the second time
in any 12-month period, the impounding fee shall be $6.00 per
dog; in any case in which the same owner' s dog or dogs are im-
pounded for the third or more times in any 12-month period,
the impounding fee shall be $8.00 per dog."
SECTION 3. Section 5-11 of the Code of Ordinances is here-
by amended by adding a sentence to the end of such section,
which sentence shall read as follows:
"For each such animal that is held in the City Animal
Pound, the owner shall be charged the sum of $5.00 for picking
up such animal,plus the sum of $1.00 per day for each day held
in the City Animal Pound."
