ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 24-21 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, INCREASING
THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS OF POLICE
OFFICER BY THREE AND POLICE LIEUTEN-
ANTS BY ONE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 24-21 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Wichita Falls is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 24-21. Classification under Civil Service.
(a) The following positions in the Police Department
are classified under civil service in compliance with Section
8 of Article 1269m of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, as
amended, and they are hereby set out as follows:
Classification-Title Number of Positions
Policewoman 3
Police officer 88
Police sergeant 20
Police lieutenant 6
Police captain 2
(b) No other person employed by the city may be classified
as holding a position under civil service with the Police
Department. "
SECTION 2 . The increase in the number of positions pro-
vided by this ordinance is necessary for the more effective
operation of the Police Department, and this ordinance is
declared to be an emergency measure on the ground of public
need for the preservation of the peace, health and safety of
property in the city, and it shall become effective upon its
passage.
