Ord 2852 1/8/1974 do- ORDINANCE NO. CIIa ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 29-91 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES REDUCING SPEED LIMITS IN CERTAIN ZONES. WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has enacted a statute establishing a speed limit of 55 MPH, and the Texas Legislature has enacted a statute authorizing the Texas High- way Commission to establish a speed limit at not more than 70 MPH, and it is anticipated that such Commission will estab- lish a speed limit of 55 MPH; and, WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen desires to reduce the speed limit within the city to 55 MPH in those areas where it is now higher, to become effective when the State speed limit is reduced to 55 MPH. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT; SECTION 1. Section 29-91 of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by making the following changes in the sub- sections of said Section 29-91 as hereinafter set out, to- wit: (A) Seymour Highway (US 82-277) (6) Change 60 MPH to 55 MPH. (10) Change 60 MPH to 55 MPH. (B) Southwest Parkway (FM 369) (1) Change 60 MPH to 55 MPH. (5) Change 60 MPH to 55 MPH. (F) Archer City Highway (SH 79) (3) Change 70 MPH to 55 MPH. (I) Central Freeway (US 277-281) Northbound traffic (3) Change 70 MPH (Day) , 65 MPH (Night) to 55 MPH. Southbound traffic (1) Change 70 MPH (Day) , 65 MPH (Night) to 55 MPH. (K) Northwest Freeway (US 287) Westbound (2) Change 70 MPH (Day) , 65 MPH (Night) to 55 MPH. Eastbound (1) Change 70 MPH (Day) , 65 MPH (Night) to 55 MPH; (T) Iowa Park Road (SH Loop 370) (6) Change 60 MPH to 55 MPH. (AD) Central Freeway, Central Freeway East Southbound and eastbound traffic (2) Change 60/45 MPH to 55 MPH. (3) Change 65/50 MPH to 55 MPH. Northbound and westbound traffic (1) Change 60/50 MPH to 55 MPH. (2) Change 60/45 MPH to 55 MPH. (AI) Central Freeway South (US 281) (1) Change 70 MPH to 55 MPH. (2) Change 65 MPH to 55 MPH. (3) Change 60 MPH to 55 MPH. SECTION 2.
