AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SEC. 29-91 OF THE CITY CODE OF ORDIN-
ANCES OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS ESTABLISHING
PRIMA FACIE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS ON CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN
THE CORPORATE LIMITS C F THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS,
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS ,
TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Sec. 29-91 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Wichita Falls, is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 29-91. Maximum speed limits in certain zones.
It is hereby deemed upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that
the speed permitted by state law upon certain streets is less than is necessary for safe
operation of vehicles thereon. It is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limits are
altered on those streets in the schedule set out in this section when signs are erected giving
notice thereof as follows:
(A) Airport Drive (F. M. 890).
(1) 50 MPH From west frontage road of Central Freeway
(U. S. 277-281) to west frontage road of Spur 325.
(2) 40 MPH From west frontage road of Spur 325 to Sheppard
Access Road.
(3) 50 MPH From Sheppard Access Road to Burkburnett
Road (S.H. 240).
(B) Archer City Highway (S. H. 79).
(1) 55 MPH From the south city limits to a point 1156 feet

SECTION 2. The fact that the prima facie speed limits set out in this ordinance are
necessary to the safe and orderly movement of traffic upon the streets of the City of Wichita
Falls, this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure on the ground that there is an
urgent public need for the orderly flow of traffic upon the streets, and a public need for the
preservation of the peace, health and safety of the lives and property of the citizens of the
City. This ordinance shall, therefore, take effect immediately upon its passage.
