RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SECOND YEAR FEDERAL
GRANT APPLICATION FOR POLICE STATISTICAL
ANALYST.
WHEREAS, on May 3, 1977 , the Board of Aldermen adopted
Resolution No. 1953, approved a project for establishing
and developing a Police Department statistical analysis
office and authorized the City Manager to make application
for federal grants funded through the Texas Criminal Jus-
tice Division for the funding of such projects; and,
WHEREAS, the project was funded on a matching basis
for five years on a sliding scale from 100 percent the
first year to 20 percent the fifth year; and,
WHEREAS, the grant was received for the first year,
the project was established, and is proving to be very
beneficial to the operation of the Police Department; and,
WHEREAS , the total projected cost for the second year
of the grant is $20,743, and the matching ratio is
16, 098 Criminal Justice Division funds and $4, 645 City
funds; the second year of the project will emphasize
research into available computer programs for crime analy-
sis and the development of a crime information center; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen deems that the contin-
uation of this project is appropriate and advisable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDER-
MEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The continuation of the Police Department statistical
analysis office is approved, and the City Manager is
authorized to make application for a federal grant for the
second year of this project through the Texas Criminal
Justice Division, and he is authorized to execute for the
City the grant agreement.
